Loot beams, extra vaults and more: the October 25 update

Rare drops now raise a beam of light from the ground, Diablo 4 style: orange for ancient, green for excellent and purple for socket. The vault got tabs you buy in the Treasury, the monster level shows next to its name and the game runs lighter in crowded places.

Beams of light over ancient, excellent and socket drops in OpenMU's Lost Tower

A big update today, and it is all live: just open the game (the new version notice shows up by itself).

Loot beams

When a rare item drops, a beam of light rises from the ground, Diablo 4 style, so you can spot it from afar even in the middle of a fight. The colour tells you what dropped:

  • Orange: an ancient piece.
  • Green: an excellent item.
  • Purple: an item with sockets.

The beam flashes when the item hits the ground. Jewels, Zen and plain items get no beam. You can turn it off in Options β€Ί Video β€Ί Effects β€Ί Beam over rare drops.

Extra vaults: your vault now has tabs

Out of space? You can now buy extra vaults in the Treasury with OpenMuCoins. Each one becomes a tab next to the NPC vault, and switching tabs takes one click.

OpenMU vault tabs: Vault, DK sets, Jewel Vault and Wings

Vault Holds Slots Price
Vault any item 120 8,000
Jewel Vault jewels and jewel bundles 120 5,000
Pet Vault pets and mounts 120 5,000
Wing Vault wings and capes 120 5,000
Large Vault any item 240 20,000
  • It is yours forever and works for every character on the account.
  • Give each tab a name and colour.
  • With Sort into the right tab on, a right click on a jewel, pet or wing sends it to the tab of its kind.
  • Your old vault stays yours, and the vault Zen is still shared.

Monster level next to its name

Clicked a monster? Its level now shows next to its name in the target bar, so you know right away if it is right for you.

More FPS in crowded places

Shadows and equipment effects of other players are now drawn only for the closest ones. On players' computers, in crowded spots, FPS went up by as much as 30%: from 40 to 52 on a GTX 1650 in Lorencia and from 17 to 22 on an RX 580 in a busy Kanturu.

And more

  • Master Skill Tree with a new window: each point shows what it really changes on your character.
  • Rage Fighter: Dragon Roar and Dark Side unlocked from level 20.
  • Treasury: 4 new free spells, one of each per day: Crystal of Multi-Shot, Recovery, Destruction and Flame Strike.
  • Mobile: a Log out / switch character button right in the menu.
  • Excellent like the original: excellent items no longer drop with sockets.

Have fun and good hunting!
